Review manipulation appeals: examine messages, incentives, and third parties

Look at what your business and its partners actually did. A neutral-sounding draft cannot make a prohibited incentive compliant.

Understand the conduct Amazon identifies

Amazon’s customer product reviews policies prohibit manipulation, including compensated reviews, requests to change or remove reviews, and routing only positive experiences to Amazon. Its seller code of conduct also addresses ratings, feedback, and reviews. Read the exact allegation rather than assuming every complaint concerns the same campaign.

Product reviews, seller feedback, and order-performance metrics are different things. A review manipulation appeal should identify the communication or activity Amazon questions and whether the notice affects a product, reviews, listings, or the selling account. Do not describe an ODR problem as a product-review violation simply because both involve customer opinions.

The official reviews policy expressly includes employees and third-party partners. Saying that an agency managed a campaign does not establish that the business met its responsibilities. At the same time, do not admit an activity you have not established occurred.

Audit the real customer-facing activity

Before drafting, collect the material that actually reached customers or was used by your partners. Preserve a private copy before making changes so your chronology remains accurate. This is a suggested investigation of your own records, not a claim that Amazon requires every item below in every appeal.

  • Review package inserts, message templates, follow-up sequences, and any requests concerning reviews or feedback.
  • Check incentives, rebates, refunds, discount arrangements, and the conditions under which they were offered.
  • Examine agency contracts, campaign instructions, permissions, and reports to establish what a partner actually did.
  • Identify who approved the activity, which products or campaigns were affected, and which changes have genuinely been completed.

Explain the issue without repeating it

If you identify prohibited activity, describe the specific mechanism and the steps already taken to stop it. For example, state which template was withdrawn or which partner access changed only if you can verify those actions. Separate completed steps from controls you plan to introduce.

Amazon’s code of conduct permits neutral review or feedback requests to your own customers but prohibits practices such as incentives, positive-only requests, selective solicitation, and attempts to change or remove a review. Check the complete current policy and communications rules before designing a replacement process; changing a few words does not necessarily make a campaign compliant.

If you dispute the allegation, use the relevant messages and campaign records to explain your position. Avoid an unsupported blanket denial that ignores a known third-party campaign. Identify unknowns honestly, especially when a former contractor holds records you do not yet have.

Do not contact reviewers to pressure them, offer a benefit for removing a review, or create replacement reviews as part of an appeal strategy. A response should address the notice, not start another activity that raises the same concern.

Mistakes to remove from the draft

Keep the proposed prevention measures specific enough to operate: who reviews communications, what they check, and when the review occurs. These should be truthful descriptions of your process, not commitments added by a template to sound impressive.

  • Calling an incentive “customer service” without explaining whether it was tied to a review.
  • Claiming all staff and partners were trained when no training has happened.
  • Blaming an agency as though a third party’s involvement automatically removes seller responsibility.
  • Asserting that deleting a campaign guarantees Amazon will remove a restriction or restore reviews.

What an AI-assisted explanation can do

InstantPOA can help structure the known campaign facts, completed corrections, and realistic controls into an editable Amazon Plan of Action. It cannot audit third-party systems, remove reviews, obtain private Amazon findings, or guarantee reinstatement.

Use the intake to distinguish facts, allegations you dispute, and information still missing. Review every line because AI may produce inaccuracies. The service is independent of Amazon, does not represent you, and does not promise appeal approval or a response time.

Questions sellers ask

Does using an agency make review manipulation someone else’s responsibility?

Amazon’s reviews policy includes employees and third-party partners. Review what the agency actually did, your involvement, and the controls you can substantiate rather than assuming outsourcing resolves the concern.

Can I ask a reviewer to remove a review to help my appeal?

Amazon’s policies prohibit attempts to influence reviews, including certain removal requests and incentives. Use the official policy and any available Amazon reporting process rather than pressuring a reviewer.

Will a POA restore removed product reviews?

No outcome is guaranteed. A factual explanation may be relevant to the notice, but a drafting service does not control Amazon’s reviews or account decisions.
